Karthenonians have no 'computers'. Their minds function almost identically to a computer, and they've had the technology to both keep one running outside of a body, and create new blank ones of their own, for over 3 generations. Unfortunately, anything capable of thought is terrible at originality. Everything is based on something else, even an empty and fresh mind has something to base its thoughts off of, some idea of identity or space, there's always some thought it bases other thoughts off of. By wiping the memory of a mind and replacing it with a blank one only after its Hume level has been brought below 0.4, then in a matter of years its thoughts will be reformatted completely, enabling it to think thoughts that are(theoretically) removed from normal thought. This does require that, after every session of pondering, the memory sheet be replaced with a blank one, every time. The brain must have no memories, no thoughts to base its new ones off of. Through his method, information without any source is generated, effectively creating a new method of intel gathering on the level of a person who was in the room when the information being sought was being discussed. But they didn't really pay attention and they were kinda tired, plus their favorite show was on that night and they were trying to remember old plot points that might come up and kicking themselves over ret-cons to that information in more recent episodes- all in all just a not very reliable or complete source, but still a source of information entirely removed from conjecture or bias.
