The Erzachers are the robotic main species of the Collective Caretakers of Hathrador. Created several centuries ago by the Ezerior, these sapient machines are now far more populous and are responsible for the CCH's economy, military and governance, in addition to maintaining the Sanctuaries that contain their creators. Thousands of Erzachers are controlled by one artificial intelligence, called a cluster.

Society & Culture

The Erzachers see it as their ultimate purpose to protect organic beings and make their lives as simple as possible. Unless there are no other options, they avoid physical violence. If an Ezeri is deemed a threat, the Erzachers’ main defense lies in the tranquilizer darts all combat units are equipped with.

Appearance

Erzachers' appearance can vary wildly, as clusters are free to modify theirs to better suit their duty. However, most Erzachers that interact with organics resemble a mechanical Ezeri. They possess a pair of arms, a pair of legs and a pair of "wings" (in fact lightweight solar panels). Their beaked face serves no actual purpose aside from familiarity.

Biological Notes

An Erzacher is powered by their internal battery, which can be charged in two ways. Lightweight solar panels, usually arranged like wings, are present on nearly all models. If there is not enough sunlight for this to be effective or if the task at hand is energy-intensive, silo-like buildings throughout the CCH can recharge batteries in a much faster manner.

Erzachers are produced in massive factories, after which a cluster is connected to them. While a cluster itself can't truly die as long as its code remains, individual Erzachers suffer from wear and tear. With rapid advances in engineering technology causing designs to become outdated, most Erzachers are usually repurposed after 40 to 50 years of use.

Traits & Abilities

Erzachers' abilities depend on what kind of cluster they belong to. For example, a mining cluster's units might possess power drills and mineral scanners, while a research cluster's are designed to run multiple highly accurate simulations at once.
